Join the Coalition

DPC members represent Detroit’s regional and destination parks, but our mission is to support all parks and parks organizations in the city. If you are interested in learning more about how to partner with DPC, read our membership guidelines and benefits below.

Membership CRITERIA

  • Members of DPC must be community-based nonprofit park stewardship organizations that operate within the City of Detroit for the benefit of all park users.

  • Member organizations must steward one or more parks, with a preference for regional or destination parks. Organizations that steward greenways that are designed, programmed, and operated as parks will also be considered; organizations that steward non-park public spaces, public amenities, or plazas are not eligible for membership. Parks need not be owned by the City of Detroit but must be open for public use.

  • Member organizations must either have 501c3 status or employ a nonprofit fiscal sponsor. For profit businesses are not eligible for membership.

  • Member organizations should have a minimum of one year history of programming and operations.

  • Member organizations should send a delegate to DPC Coalition meetings (monthly in January, February, April, May, July, August, October, and November) and attend DPC's annual Parks Summit. Member organizations may also send a delegate to DPC's monthly Programming Committee meetings.

  • DPC members all aspire to best practices in both park stewardship and nonprofit management. To advance that goal, DPC members should commit to adopting the organizational practices below. DPC will support adoption and implementation of these practices through financial and/or technical assistance.
