Advancing Green Stormwater Infrastructure in Detroit Parks
Request for Proposals - GSI Design
Project Overview
This project contains a suite of individual projects that will result in the installation of GSI BMPs in three public parks in the City of Detroit - Eliza Howell Park, Chandler Park, and Heilmann Park. Implementing these BMPs will reduce stormwater runoff and CSO’s into the Rouge and Detroit Rivers and Lake Erie, beautify parks in the City of Detroit, reduce flooding and improve park usage, and serve as a demonstration of GSI to Detroit residents. The GSI will be planned, designed, and implemented in partnership with the respective park conservancy organizations (Sidewalk Detroit & Chandler Park Conservancy), the Detroit Parks Coalition (an alliance of parks leaders and community members working to support healthy, equitable & vibrant parks in Detroit), and the City of Detroit. Each partner has experience implementing and maintaining GSI BMPs and/or engaging the local communities.
This project is a collaboration between Detroit Parks Coalition, the City of Detroit, and EGLE. Bids are due October 9.
